JULIE SMITH
 Principal

It is a pleasure to be a part of the Ocean City Elementary School family! Originally, I am from Pennsylvania where I attended Lycoming College in Williamsport, PA, home of the Little League World Series! Over 14 years ago, my husband and I moved to Maryland. We have a handsome son, Cooper, and a beautiful daughter, Ellie, who are the lights of our lives. I began my career at Stephen Decatur High School, where I taught English. From there, I enjoyed being an assistant principal at Berlin Intermediate School for 3 years and then as Assistant Principal at OCES. It is exciting to work with children every day, and I am so proud to be a part of their successes. I am very fortunate to be here at OCES, and I can't wait to continue the school year with these wonderful children!

JANE CHISHOLM
Assistant Principal

I am very excited and honored to be the Assistant Principal at Ocean City Elementary School! I am a Worcester County native and a graduate of Pocomoke High School. I received my Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Salisbury University. During my career, I have taught second and forth grades, served as a Math Resource Teacher and worked as an Assistant Principal at the elementary and middle school levels. My husband and I are blessed to have twin daughters, Dakota and Savannah. Being an educator is my passion and I strive to make every day enjoyable for the faculty, staff, families, and students of OCES! 

LINDA McGEAN
School Counselor

I have been the Counselor at Ocean City Elementary School since 2003. I have a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Psychology and a Master’s in School Counseling. As your School Counselor, I work with all students to promote their academic, personal/social and career development needs. In addition to teaching class lessons, I counselor individual students and small groups. It is a privilege to work with the wonderful faculty, staff, students and parents of Ocean City Elementary. I am grateful for the opportunity to guide our students as they work toward fulfilling their potential. Everyday at OCES is an adventure and I am delighted to be a part of it!

Have you ever heard the saying, “Do what you love and love what you do!”? Well I do; I love teaching! I have been a teacher for 28 years and have had the pleasure of teaching first, third, fourth, and sixth grades. If you were to ask me which is my favorite, I would have to say ALL of them. Each stage of a child’s school journey is packed full of milestones and I love to be a part as they discover their gifts and potential. I am thrilled to be the instructional coach at OCES and partner with, by far, the BEST faculty and staff. I grew up in Salisbury, Maryland and graduated twice from Salisbury University, first with my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and then my Master’s degree in Reading. In 2011, I earned my Doctorate in Educational Leadership. I owe a lot to my husband, Eddie, as he has been so supportive of all the late night lesson planning through the years. I am pleased to have had my daughter follow in my footsteps and my favorite pastime is playing with my two grandchildren, Carter and Evelyn.
