OC Stars
OC Stars was formed in 1999 by then music teacher, Rick Chapman. The choral group is comprised of 3rd and 4th grade students who must audition for a spot on the chorus. Approximately 135 students participate every year. One of the first OC Stars performances was the opening ceremony of Springfest in Ocean City, Maryland. Since then, OC Stars has been selected every year as the opening entertainment group for both Springfest and Winterfest. The choral group also performs at local community events, nursing homes, school assemblies and in parades. The success of OC Stars comes from the hard work and sacrifice of both the Choir Director and its student members. Support from school administration, staff and parents has also been vital to the success and longevity of the choral group. Rick Chapman led the choral group from 1999 until his retirement in 2019. During that time, he arranged and recorded all the group's songs, wrote all the shows and conducted every OC Stars performance. OC Stars is an integral part of not only Ocean City Elementary school, but also of the Ocean City, Maryland community.
